Passports with Purpose is an annual fundraiser that is travel blogger supported and raises money to support various causes around the world. This year, Passports with Purpose benefits Worldreader, an organization that offers reading programs in 12 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The goal of this year’s Passports with Purpose fundraiser is to place e-readers in five libraries in Western Kenya. This means that an estimated 6250 children, teachers and parents will have access to more than 50,000 books!

Each library will receive 50 e-readers loaded with reading material for all ages in both English and Swahili. They will also receive Kenyan textbooks. The program also includes comprehensive training for the librarians and a system to keep the e-readers charged if electricity is scarce. 100% of Passports with Purpose donations, exclusive of PayPal fees, will go to the cause.

David Risher, president and co-founder of Worldreader, was inspired to create this program after a round-the-world trip with his wife and daughters. Find out more about his story and about Worldreader on the Passports with Purpose website.

About Passports with Purpose

Passports With Purpose was founded in 2008 by Debbie Dubrow, Pam Mandel, Beth Whitman and Michelle Duffy as away to build community among travel bloggers and to give back to the places we, as travelers, visit. Since then, they’ve been raising money for committed global organizations every year and using a powerful network of bloggers and travel companies to give back.
